It All Started with a Word in the Shower
Share
From Reluctant Obedience to Kingdom Purpose
Yes, you read that right. In my most vulnerable state—standing in the shower—the LORD gave me a word.
His Grace Your Faith was birthed in February 2019, grounded in this scripture:
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3–4
On that ordinary February morning, I was just minding my own business (pun intended) when God gave me a download—a full business plan, a name, what we were called to create, and why. The name? His Grace Your Faith—the same names as my daughters, Grace and Faith. That alone let me know this was something personal and sacred.
But let me be honest—I didn’t want to start the business.
My response wasn’t, “Awesome, let’s go Lord!”
It was more like, “Absolutely not. There’s no way I’m stepping into the already-saturated Christian apparel space.”
So I didn’t.
I didn’t move.
I didn’t talk about it.
I sat on what God had given me for over a year.
And then this verse came like a Holy Spirit uppercut:
“In all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.” – Proverbs 14:23
That one stung.
Because I wasn’t even talking about it—I was just avoiding it altogether.
No movement. No planning. Just silence.
Out of fear. Out of doubt. Out of not wanting to fail.
That verse convicted me deeply.
“In all toil there is profit...”
If I simply put my hands to what God gave me—He’d bless it.
Even if it didn’t make sense.
Even if I felt unqualified.
Even if I was scared.
“...but mere talk tends only to poverty.”
And in my case, silence was just as dangerous as talk.
God was reminding me: You don’t need more confirmation—you need obedience.
That was the turning point.
I chose to step out in faith, even with all my uncertainties.
I had no clue about e-commerce. I didn’t know a thing about SEO, print-on-demand, trademarking, marketing, policies, or GST. But God did. And He didn’t expect perfection—just my “yes.”
Over time, He placed me in jobs that built my skills.
Jobs that stretched me.
Jobs that trained me in areas I had no clue I’d need.
Looking back, I can clearly see His hand strategically positioning me.
Our Why: It’s Always Been About People
From the very beginning, God made it clear:
This isn’t about chasing money or trends—it’s about people.
It’s about His people.
It reminds me of this Māori proverb:
He aha te mea nui o te ao?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.
What is the most important thing in the world?
It is the people, it is the people, it is the people.
Every t-shirt, every hoodie, every piece we create—it’s all for the sake of the Gospel.
This is Kingdom work.
We are here to seek first the Kingdom, and we believe our clothing is more than fashion—it’s a warfare tool.
It’s a way for you to carry the Word boldly, to start conversations about Jesus, to shift atmospheres without saying a word.
Every design has come through time spent with God—during worship, in the Word, or when a specific phrase hits deep during a sermon. We pray over every design before it goes out. If Holy Spirit isn’t part of it—we don’t want it.
Honouring Legacy & Looking Ahead
In our early days, we were blessed by the creative gifting of our very own Malaki Peseta (MAH-LAH-KEY)—brother, uncle, and designer extraordinaire. Though Malaki has now stepped into the most important role of his life—Dad—his legacy lives on in the designs he helped create. His hand is still in this house, and we honour the role he played in building this vision.
Now, as we continue to grow, our heart remains the same:
To lift up the name of Jesus.
To create pieces that carry purpose.
To build people, not just a brand.
We believe wherever you go and whatever you do, you will be blessed (Deuteronomy 28:6)—but only when you're moving in alignment with God’s will.
So sis and bro, if you’re sitting on something God gave you, let this be your reminder:
He doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You just have to move.
This is more than a brand.
This is a movement.
This is warfare.
This is His Grace Your Faith.
Come with us.
Pray with us.
Let’s watch the LORD move.
With love,
Michelle
